How do you choose the right agent?

Choosing the right agent can be a difficult and time consuming task! Here are some questions you can ask your agent candidates to help you choose which is right for you:

Ask about their schedule

These days our lives are crazy and you want to make sure your agent is working for you on your schedule. They need to be available when you are. Simply ask what kind of restrictions they have on their schedule and let them know what you expect from them based on your schedule.

How long have they been an agent?

Decide before the process how much experience you wish your agent to have. Do you wish to work with a veteran agent, or newly graduated agent with that ultimate hunger to buy and sell real estate?

Do you wish for an Agent who is specialized in anything or any place in particular?

You may have your eyes set on a particular neighborhood, and would like to work with an agent who has experience buying and selling in that neighborhood. You may be in need of acreage for a horse farm, and want to work with someone who specializes in buying and selling horse properties. Whether you are buying or selling, you may want to work with a particular agent who has more experience of one or the other.

References

Ask for references! Most previous clients would be more than happy to sing the praises of a previous agent, and would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have. The value is priceless to speak with someone who has dealt with that particular agent first hand!

Transplant or Local?

Do you wish to work with an agent who was born and raised in your desired location, or are you interested in working with a transplant agent, one who can share the ins and outs of moving into your desired location.
